#HipHop turned 50 this year...and so are many of us from the 1st Hip Hop generation (#GenX). I feel like we need to take that space for ourselves.
The music we love and lived for didn't go away just because it isn't topping the charts right now. Many of the artists we love still make music and there are new artists arriving that make music that IS for us (e.g., Little Brother & others).
Living long enough to see the genre age is a win.

Alors que le punk a connu dans les années 1980 l’éclosion d'une scène queer politiquement engagée qui a donné son nom à un style (le #queercore), le #metal, à l’inverse, est un milieu où les personnes #LGBT+ out sont très peu nombreuses. De la même manière que le metal traîne derrière lui une réputation de musique raciste et sexiste, l'idée selon laquelle le milieu serait particulièrement homophobe et transphobe est répandue. Ces affirmations sont la résultante du fait que, dans notre société occidentale, le metal semble être un milieu dont la culture dominante est masculine, blanche et hétéro, qui absorbe et reproduit les normes la société dans laquelle il baigne.

How do you follow up something as groundbreaking at “3 Feet High And Rising”?
At the time of its release, I really didn’t like this album. The production quality is better than their debut for sure, but it’s track list is much more diverse in its sound and song subject matter. It’s overall a bit darker too.
But it does grow on you. I’ve since come to really enjoy this one, minus most of the “skits”.
De La Soul Is Dead sacrifices consistency for lot of pushing-boundaries and a lot of trying to get out of their old style. It works often, but not all the time. Still. It's a classic.
