I printed this for my son - 2 - and he’s been clutching ever since, occasionally showing it to me and shouting ‘Love it!’ Thank you for making a little boy very happy!

I cannot remember when it became hard for people to just be #kind to each other.

I have changed the avatar because the boy wanted to get in on the act. And, to be fair, he is way cooler than I am.

#oldPosts from 2006, Istanbul #Turkey

I have been taking sunset and sky photographs for a long time now but these still might be some of my favorites.

Edited in #Darktable and posted to Mastodon in 2017 although a verson of them were around before then.

It’s enlightening - every time I miss quote button (and have to use reply instead) on Mastodon I am confronted with the fact that I wanted to make snarky comment or wanted to make my voice more important than it should be.

#Introduction Hello squirrels, I am almost as famous as that other Geri, but unlike her, I have a neuro-degenerative disease called #Dystonia. I fall over quite a bit and spend much of my time trying to find soft things to land upon. I am also a big-bottom anarchist green type and a connoisseur of fine wine although will quaff any old rubbish.

There has been an incredible influx of this beautiful Arctiidae moth here in the UK this Autumn. Crimson Speckled (Utetheisa pulchella) has graced many traps over the past 6 weeks, and lots were found disturbed by day, particularly along coastal areas. I was lucky enough to see this one in Suffolk. Pre-2022 there were around 100 records for the UK. This year alone we must be nearing that figure now.

Finished a little #painting in the #volcano series. I'm usually a #pastel #artist, but enjoyed glazing with some tiny brushes for this small #artwork. #art

Surreal to see Twitter personalities on here now, posting in the same style they've always posted

in reply to KayVay

@KayVay Well, I've just seen a reply from Elon himself, suggested that he DID! I'm with you. I sure the hell wouldn't have (but maybe everybody has their price) 😞
in reply to Mr A Dean

well, he could just be a bigger person than I would’ve been in this situation. That’s commendable too

What's happening right now in realtime at #Twitter tonite has a very Berlin Wall vibe...?

The next time I go to Starbucks and pay too much for my coffee I'm going to think of Elon Musk and Twitter and feel a lot better about my life choices.

According to the New York Times, employees at Twitter just began hanging up as #ElonMusk was talking during videoconference call today, apparently deciding to quit before the 5 pm deadline.

Another great article about the #Twitter mess by Ryan Mac, Mike Isaac and David McCabe.

I can't help myself but I have a feeling that this won't end well.

If you are or were in Twitter... make sure to download your archive!

My favourite breakfast - one soft poached egg with a short cut of bacon on sourdough toast. Relatively light but protein rich.

Mastodon feels really empty to me so far. And I know it's because I'm not following anybody, but how do I even find anybody to follow? I try using the search, but no matter what I search, whether it's birds or LGBT, I get no results. What am I doing wrong?

in reply to Celestia

Start by putting out an #introduction post, with lots of #hashtags of things that interest you. Boost any posts that you find interesting or amusing, and follow anyone who posts things you like. You should start to see more and more posts that are to your liking, and so the cycle continues. Good luck 🙂

Still a newcomer here so I've been keeping my head down in case the big kids throw my gym kit into the urinal and stamp on my pencil case.

Sensible caution. One of these clever people on here is bound to have written some software that gives online Chinese burns.

If we can’t talk about the problem we can’t fix it… pretty simple stuff #brexit

Mr A Dean reshared this.

in reply to Deborah Meaden

But apparently we're not trying to fix it. One party says the benefits are flooding in, and the other says it will make it work.
in reply to Deborah Meaden

I suspect they fear the open wound that shows democracy is fallible and worse still manipulable and may bring down the Party system is at the root of this now. I cannot think of another reason Starmer does not seize the initiative. Otherwise it’s sheer cowardice.

I know I don't do this for coin but so many people, pre-Eternal November and post-, throw foam bricks at the cafe and screech "But you'll never find an audience, good luck trying to get 10,000 followers on the Fediverse"

but you don't need anywhere near that. Put in a bit of legwork, nose about in other people's words and soon enough you've got a few folk and when you post a thing, even if two people join in and play with you? That's just perfect for me. (thread)

This praying #mantis enclosed in amber is some 30 million years old.

Love this.

Skeletal evidence shows Britain's ancient Anglo-Saxon society as more genetically diverse than once thought.

Fascinating use of cranium morphology patterns to identify ethnic groups in early Britain.

in reply to Mike Galsworthy 🦣

it shows yet again that ethnicity and culture are not inextricably linked. After all finding a Coca Cola bottle somewhere doesn’t mean there are actual Americans nearby. Culture is customs, language and the way people express themselves in their decorations folklore and ceremonies.
